It appears that a proposed mega fight between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton is becoming a reality. Talks have begun for the two boxing superstars to face each other on May 2, 2009. It appears that the fight would take place at 140 pounds in Las Vegas.

Speaking to the Associated press, Golden Boy’s, Richard Schaefer stated, ” Im encouraged by the way it’s going and I’m talking to the Hatton’s again. You really have two of the most popular fighters of their generation fighting each other, and that’s the kind of fight we want to make. This is a fight with tremendous global appeal, and boht of them have built up a very strong following here. With Manny’s following in Asia and Ricky’s support in Europem you could say Las Vegas is the center of everything.”

There were rumors made following Pacquiao’s win over De La Hoya that Floyd Mayweather Jr. would come out of retirement to face Pacquiao first. However, Mayweather’s came has denied that rumor and stated that Floyd is still enjoying his retirement and has no plans on coming back to fight. However, if Pacquiao were to beat Hatton, it would only make a fight with Floyd much bigger and possibly entice Money Mayweather to come back for the mega match up. Time will tell, but Pacquiao vs Hatton is a great fight itself. Lets hope negotiations go smooth so this one can be made official.
